FCTA advocates enhanced tourism environment

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for tourism to thrive and positioning it as a potential mainstay of the nation’s economy.

The Director, FCT Tourism Department, Ann Dogo, state this during a visit to Senator Ned Nwoko in Abuja, where she led a delegation comprising NGOs, the FCT Tourism Volunteers Network, Africa Tourism Board, and Project Fly With Us Africa.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration with Senator Nwoko, recognizing his significant contributions to the country’s creative sector, particularly in tourism and sports development.

Mrs. Dogo highlighted the immense potential within Nigeria to become a global leader in tourism, emphasizing the sector’s capacity as an economic powerhouse capable of steering comprehensive national development.

According to her, with a good, conducive, and secure environment, the tourism sector would attract direct foreign investment and create job opportunities.

Drawing inspiration from successful tourist destinations like Dubai and Malaysia, Mrs. Dogo urged the government to invest significantly in the tourism sector.

In response, Senator Ned Nwoko expressed appreciation for the delegation’s focus on discussing the tourism sector.

He pledged to use his influence to advocate for legislation prioritizing the development of the sector in the National Assembly.

The senator believed that with adequate attention, Nigeria could solidify its position as the giant of Africa.
