BUILDING COLLAPSED IN LAGOS BEFORE COMPLETION

The inhabitants of Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State are on high alert as a seven-storey building collapsed in rubbles on Wednesday.

The incident is said to have taken place when the workers closed for the day, although some of them were injured in the collapsed as they were residing there as builders are known to do.

According to the Lagos Fire Service and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakin, he stated that

“We got a call around 3:58 pm. We are currently trying to ascertain the claim that no one was under the rubble.”

Imagine how much money was put into building that structure, and I can imagine that the building passed inspection and clearance and all the things that are put into building a structure of the size and at the end of the day, it all cme tumbling down like the tower of Babel.

At least we can sleep easy that it didn’t cave in when people has started living in it, it would have been too bad.

We must always think about the aftermath before venturing into a project, think about the lives at stake and properties and funds that can never be recovered before using substandard materials to take up such a project.
