This year’s World Day of Social Justice was celebrated on Sunday, February 20, 2022, with the theme “achieving social justice through formal employment”.
As aptly captured by Marian Wright Edelman, “the challenge of social justice is to evoke a sense of community that we need to make our nation a better place, just as we make it a safer place”.
As part of its commitment to making Nigeria a better place, the TY Danjuma Foundation is involved in the push for social justice by creating access to quality and affordable healthcare and education opportunities for communities. It has also empowered thousands of people at the grassroots to be gainfully employed through skills acquisition.
Other ways the TY Danjuma Foundation is pushing for social justice include through the provision of succor to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and improving community health-seeking behaviors through awareness campaigns for people in hard-to-reach communities.
These acts of empowerment and awareness have deepened inclusiveness and improved the livelihoods of people in communities where the Foundation work.
Since 2009, the TY Danjuma Foundation has awarded over ₦4.7 billion in grants for the implementation of 336 projects in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory that has impacted over 10 million lives.
